Even when you have my shoulders

Occupied with yesterday's burdens

I'm steadfast in my efforts

Not to be denied, my rising

Though the pressures, I come to bear

Yes, I've had to scrounge

To keep from surrendering

But still, I remind you

My ascendency is infinite

And there is absolutely

Nothing you can do to prevent

My rising

The words from your Lips

Carefully chosen to make

Truths from lies will serve to justify

In your mind, my plight

But I remind you I shall rise

Your attempts to make permanent misery

Through well-crafted narratives still cannot and will not

Define me or prevent my rising

My chest will continue to contract and expand with air
